While Sleeptime audio products aren't all hypnotic, Rosemary does use many hypnotic techniques in many of her audio productions. That's because hypnotic suggestions are powerful, and they work. The positive results speak for themselves.
What do you experience when you're hypnotised?
We get a lot of enquiries about hypnosis, and one question that's often asked is "What do you experience when you're in a hypnotic state?"
Well, the physical experience is basically the same as when you're fully conscious, with two main exeptions. Firstly, your concentration will be much more focussed, and secondly, just about every muscle in your body will be relaxed.
Some people feel a warm sensation some feel that they're "floating", and it's common for people to feel that their limbs are "heavy", and that they don't want to move, even though they know they can. They are so relaxed, they just don't want to make the effort to move. It's generally a very pleasant physical experience.
In your mind, you'll experience increased concentration, complete relaxation and your senses will be more alert. An example of every day hypnosis is day-dreaming, where we are lost in our thoughts. We each spend around 2-3 hours a day in this dream state, which is just as well really, because it's an excellent (and some say essential) way to relieve the stress of our daily lives.
What does "Alpha" mean in hypnosis?
That's the brain wave pattern that one arrives at when very relaxed. It's called the "Alpha" state, and when you're in that state, your subconscious mind is more open to suggestions such as "From now on, you will dislike the taste of cigarettes". In the Alpha state, your subconscious mind will more readily accept that statement as true.
